Behold! It’s the Samsung T919

October 15th, 2008

I thought Omnia is the smatphone that is going to compete with iPhone 3G but what is this that I’ve heard in the virtual world that T mobile’s going to launch a new Samsung smartphone which is the Samsung T919, also known as the “Behold.” There are rumors that it will compete with the iPhone 3G. Features include: AWS HSDPA (3G), Capacitive Touchscreen Camera, Front Camera for Video Calling, MicroSDHC Support, aGPS with Voice Commands, Steaming Video Support, Bluetooth, Email, and a lot more. With the camera, it is not yet confirmed if it has an autofocus and face recognition. Let’s just wait for November to see which is better: the iPhone 3G or the Samsung T919 a.k.a. Behold? Samsung always make a mobile phone that can compete with the worldwide market and they never disappoint the people with their creations. I’ve been a Samsung lover eversince I started to try one of their mobile phones and until now, I always get the hots for buying a unit from them.

Blackberry 8900 AKA ‘The Javelin’

October 15th, 2008

My mom lives in Germany and I heard that the Blackberry Javelin is only available in this country. This is a great idea for me since December is coming around. I know that she would be asking on what kind of gift I want for Christmas and the Blackberry Javelin can be a perfect gift for me. Oh well, the features are not that good compared to other smartphones like the camera which is only 3.2 megapixel as we all know there is already a 5 megapixel camera phone. Another thing is that it is a 3G less mobile unit. I actually don’t go after the high specs of it since I’m not that techie. Having a Blackberry Javelin is not for me. And after a couple of months, Blackberry might release a newer mobile phone so I might think of buying another one. That’s just how it goes, right?

iPhone and Translink Website

October 15th, 2008

I Canada, iPhone gets bus-friendly with Translink Website. You get a constant access to the internet with the Apple iPhone 3G no matter where your go even if you get lost. With iPhone-optimized Translink website, you can find bus schedules and transit maps to you get you home. In Vancouver, Translink is the public transportation system and just recently, it launched a version of its website which made the iPhone much useful and much friendlier. But sad to say, it did not really display all that well on the small screen of an iPhone. If you tilt your iPhone sideways, the transit maps automatically appear in landscape mode and if you switch back to portrait, there goes the schedules and bus route information. But this is a great way of accessing the best way of transportations in Canada; I hope this will also be available worldwide. Future plans call for a location-aware app too, so you can get really relevant bus information. The iPhone-optimized Translink site can be accessed by hitting m.translink.com on your iPhone.

Sony Ericson’s Latest Walkman Phone

October 15th, 2008

Sony Ericson’s has already released a lot of Walkman phones. To add to their list is the Sony Ericson W595 Walkman Phone. It comes with enhanced technology and newer features than its popular predecessor W850i. The features include, TrackID, Shake Control, Walkmate, Video Blogging, Access to Online Music Store, 3.15 Megapixel Camera (but this phone lacks the auto-focus function), large 2.2 inch display screen and 3G services with video calling. Like the W850i, the newest Walkman Phone is also a slide up. W595 Walkman comes with four different colors of Jungle Grey, Lava Black, Cosmopolitan White, and Active Blue. I’ve noticed that a lot of people are listening to music while traveling. This mobile phone is created especially for those who love to listen to music. This is really a wonderful idea for music lovers because they got what they need with the phone. This is a good form of entertainment especially when commute.

The Nokia E71

October 15th, 2008

Okay, I’m not that familiar with Nokia E71 and as usual, I had to research over the internet just to get a review about this product and so far, there are good reviews about this phone. It looks a bit like the Nokia E61i but the E71 is slimmer and sexier. The features of this phone include: 3G for the US, GPS, FM radio, and a 3 megapixel camera and auto-focus. It also includes QWERTY text keyboard, Wi-Fi, memory card slot, and a large QVGA display. Although I’m not into smartphones, I know that there are a lot of enthusiasts out there that will appreciate the beauty of this mobile phone. By the way, Nokia E71 replaces E61i that’s why as I have mentioned earlier, it looks a bit like the latter. Nokia just made some changes and specifications. We all know that Nokia has a lot of mobile phones that is like these two mobile phones.

MSI rPreparing For Wind U120 And U91

October 14th, 2008

It seems like the going course for netbooks today are bigger SSDs and mobile connectivity. So MSI is also advancing a fresh batch of Wind netbooks by the end of this quarter.

The MSI Wind U120 is the future generation 10″ netbook that will come with 3.5G HSDPA built into the system. Great for low-cost but 3G-rich country like the Philippines. A 6-cell battery will also be a standard alternative for these netbooks but will finally increase the weight of the unit to 1.25Kg.

The MSI Wind U91 will still be extended with 8.9″ display screen, as well as the HSDPA module. MSI is looking at elevating the processors to the Dual Core Intel Atom N330 but because the CPU will also use up twice as much power, they are cautiously considering their picks. MSI assures that the cost of these new models will be at the same rate as the earlier one.

Bulky Motorola VC6096 Smartphone

October 14th, 2008

Considering using something like the Motorola VC6096 smartphone may be impossible to many.  Based on appearances alone, this thing has to be at least two or three times the size of a Motorola Q. And as we know, most of the people out there wanted their cell phones, as slim as possible.

The good thing is that, the VC6096 is not intended to be a truly mobile smartphone. Rather, the idea behind this Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional device is that it ought be permanently mounted in a vehicle, like a taxi cab or freight truck.

Important features on the Motorola VC6096 include integrated GPS and HSDPA, as well as Wi-Fi. Not sure why you’d need Wi-Fi in a moving vehicle, but there you are. Rounding out the specs are military-spec ruggedness, Bluetooth, XScale 624MHz processor, SD slot, and 256MB internal memory. Expect for it in the fourth quarter of this year.

Microsoft Most likely To Takeover Research In Motion?

October 14th, 2008

In the concluding four months, Research in Motion has suffered a 45% decrease in stock value. Despite owning such a huge market share and fantastic devices like the BlackBerry Bold, it appears that RIM is experiencing some tough times and they may be subject to getting bought out. Industry experts are saying that a Microsoft takeover is presumed to come about.

The big question now is that, could  the next generation of BlackBerry smartphones be powered by Windows Mobile?

According to some industry experts, If market conditions will not improve as to what  they are now, this would be posssible.

News are spreading that, Microsoft has a standing offer to RIM at $50 a share if the market price drops to $40 (it’s currently at about $67 and dropping). Would we see WinMo on a ‘Berry? The BlackBerry OS on an HTC or Palm? Let’s wait and see.

Firefox Mobile granted the rights to Nokia N810 Internet Tablet

October 14th, 2008

People from Mozilla may be feeling a bit down since one of Mozilla’s biggest supporters, Google brought out its own Chrome web browser.

Google Chrome is a browser that combines a minimal design with cosmopolitan technology to get to the web faster, safer, and easier.

Firefox Mobile web browser was formulated  for cell phones, smartphones, and other mobile devices. And the first device to get Firefox Mobile is the Nokia N810 Internet Tablet. This is in accordance to PC consultant, who states that the alpha version of the mobile browser will be designed initially for Windows Mobile devices over the following few months as well.

The Nokia N810,  although not based in Windows Mobile, has a pretty big developer community, so they will gladly furnish feedback to the Mozilla team. Just don’t anticipate the beta to come out successfully until next year.

Orange To Dump BlackBerry Bold

October 14th, 2008

If it were not for the pressures from AT&T to make a 3G-enabled BlackBerry, Research in Motion may not have brought forth the BlackBerry Bold in its latest form. There are advantages  and disadvantages  to this situation, however, as it appears that the BlackBerry Bold is suffering from some “quality concerns.”

European wireless carrier, Orange has made up their mind to dump the BlackBerry Bold 9000 from its lineup because of several “software issues”.  Orange won’t pick up the 3G-enabled smartphone again until RIM releases a firmware update that repairs all of these bugs. The Bold was launched through Orange a few months ago.

Orange did not brought up particular matters in their statement but they are distinctly speculative enough that Orange  would not like to deal with the client complaints. Probably  that’s the reason why AT&T hasn’t launched the phone yet.
